In Loving Memory of Dale Rigtrup Isom

July 21, 1947 - May 3, 2026

Dale Rigtrup Isom, 78 passed away in a heartbreaking turn of events on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Hurricane, Utah. Just days later, he was followed in death by his son, Develon Isom. Though the loss is profound, the family finds comfort in knowing they are together again.

Dale was born on July 21, 1947, in Hurricane, Utah, to Herbert and Marie Isom. The youngest of six children, he grew up surrounded by family, hard work, and the red desert landscape he always called home.

While attending Hurricane High School, Dale participated in FFA and the school band, graduating with the class of 1965. Following graduation, he began searching for his place in the world, a journey that led him through many adventures and stories that could fill a canyon with laughter. One of his favorite chapters was truck driving alongside his older brother, Reed; he loved recounting to family and friends. Dale later enlisted in the National Guard before attending trade tech school for auto body repair, where he discovered the craft that would become his lifelong passion.

Dale married Kathy Walker in La Verkin, Utah, after a short courtship. Together they welcomed six children: five sons and one daughter. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, the family they created became his anchor.

A gifted auto body technician, Dale spent many years working in body shops throughout Southern Utah and Las Vegas, including Pat Clark Pontiac and Fletcher Jones Chevrolet. He took pride in his work and in the artistry of restoring vehicles, eventually passing that passion and knowledge onto some of his sons.

Beyond his work, Dale had a deep love for animals and treasured the many loyal dogs that shared his life through the years. He was known for his stories, his humor, his hard working nature and the quiet care he showed for those he loved.

He is survived by his children: Dane (Jamie) Isom, Dameien Isom, Dereck Isom, Delyn Isom and DenDra (Marc) Brown; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with two more on the way; his brother Larry (Pat Isom); sister Jane Raburn; and sister-in-law Jan Isom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marie Isom; his brothers Garth and Reed Isom; his sister Nina Kirkland; his granddaughter Khloee Isom; and his son, Develon Isom.

Dale's hands repaired countless things in life, his memory will remain stitched into the hearts of his family like desert dust after rain, impossible to wash away.
